Betty Ross

Betty Ross, 74, of Malvern, passed away January 26, 2014. Betty was born on June 29, 1939, in Holly Springs, Arkansas, to Horace and Nana (Mahan) Nix. Betty was a strong willed and determined lady. She spent a great deal of her life in Texas, where she worked as a healthcare technician. After retiring, she moved back home to Arkansas to be closer to her sister, Dean, and other family. Betty had a kind, gentle, soul as was apparent through her work as a caregiver for the elderly and the ill in recent years. She also loved animals and frequently rescued strays.
Betty is predeceased by her parents; her son, Bill Stewart; and three siblings: Dean Short, Buck Nix, and Dude Nix.
Betty is survived by her husband of eleven years, Larry Ross; step-daughter, Leann Howard; Terry Pierce, who always called her “Mom”; three grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, who were more like sisters to Betty: Linda Lunsford and Mary Nugent; and eleven nieces and nephews who all love her and enjoyed spending time with her over the years.
Her contagious smile, mischievous personality, and twinkling blue eyes will be missed by all who knew her.
